- Faculty Learning
Communities (FLCs)
- Questions and
answers about FLC definitions, models, goals, objectives, activities,
components, facilitation, budget, etc.
- Jigsaw groups explore
early-career faculty and diversity FLCs.
- Mentoring, student
associates, needs, privilege, learning
- Other examples of FLCs
explored: Senior Faculty, Cooperative Learning, Problem-Based Learning,
Teaching Portfolios, Team Teaching, Technology, US Cultures Course
Development, Ethics Across the Honors Curriculum, Teaching Writing Enriched
Courses, Preparing Future Faculty, Department Chairs, Integrating the Arts
and the Curriculum.

- Engaging in some of
the activities of FLCs: focus-course syllabus development, teaching
projects, classroom assessment techniques (CATs), course mini-portfolios,
etc.
- Key seminar topics:
student intellectual development; sharing student/faculty perspectives
- The scholarship of
teaching and learning
- Assessment of FLC
components, faculty development outcomes, and student learning
- Planning and
initiating a faculty learning community for your campus: first steps

- Determining your role:
FLC Program Director, FLC Facilitator, other
- Developing plans for
initiating and implementing faculty learning communities on your campus:
models, issues, strategies, challenges, questions
- Working on plans in
communities and campus teams; consulting with workshop leaders
- Questions, answers,
and remaining topics of interest
