Would your campus like to actively support the scholarship of teaching by
cosponsoring a Lilly Conference on College & University Teaching?
We invite you and your institution to become a cosponsor of one of the regional
Lilly Conferences on College & University Teaching.
Cosponsors are institutions that have decided to incorporate the scholarship of
teaching as an important part of their campus mission. The conference becomes a
focal point for instructional development activities such as instructional
grants, classroom research, peer evaluation, writing-across-the-curriculum, and
many other efforts. Cosponsoring institutions are given the opportunity to
review and choose their own presentation proposals -- often selecting faculty
members who have completed instructional grants or have won outstanding teaching
awards. Other campuses choose to send their new faculty to give them a quick
overview of a variety of teaching techniques and the scholarship of teaching.
Cosponsors receive a significantly lower rate for attendees from their
institutions and are credited on all conference materials. In turn, cosponsoring
campuses send a team of six or more faculty and administrators to attend the
conference. IATS staff facilitate the proposal review and registration processes
for the conference, whether or not the campus decides to review its own
proposals.
Conference participants come from all disciplines and types of institutions.
Many have been teaching for decades, while others are new to the academy. Most
participants have never attended an interdisciplinary conference on teaching.
The welcoming Lilly spirit and the high level of scholarly attention to teaching
and learning enable everyone to contribute to the forum.
